PHP 5
Why was MediaCatch LLC one of the first
companies to offer PHP5? Because MediaCatch LLC is a
PHP specialist!
While other companies struggle to enable new versions of php support
with their existing control panels and software, MediaCatch LLC stays
ahead of the game by offering the best and latest PHP
code with the best and latest web hosting software. How
do we do this? Simple - we hire PHP specialists to
ensure that our customers have access to the latest
stable technology.
PHP 5 History - What's so great about PHP5?
PHP 5 was released in July 2004. It is mainly driven by
its core, the Zend Engine 2.0 with a new object model
and dozens of other new features.
To get more information on the Zend engine, click here.
PHP 5 offers so many enhancements over previous versions
of PHP, that we offer PHP5 as our default web design
language for Linux-based web hosting accounts.
How do I migrate my web site(s) to PHP5?
PHP 5 with its integrated Zend Engine 2 have greatly
improved PHP's performance and capabilities. In
addition, great care has been taken to break as little
existing code as possible. So migrating your code from
PHP 4 to 5 should be quite simple.
See the detailed
PHP4 to PHP5 Migration Instructions.
What about additional PHP 5 Modules?
Need something installed? Just ask. If it
isn't a security or performance risk, our friendly PHP
specialists will be happy to install new modules for
your use.

Will I have to use those .php4 or
.php5 extensions with your service?
No! That would make coding a pain, so we keep our
servers clean, with only one standard PHP version on each server.
Just specify which version you'd like, PHP 4, or PHP 5,
and then you can just use the usual .php extensions for
your web pages. If you don't specify a version,
you will receive PHP 5 by default.
Already a client and want to upgrade
to a PHP5 hosting account?
Just open a support ticket and we can
help you convert your current hosting account over to a
PHP 5 web hosting server for FREE!
Wait - I'm not ready for PHP 5, can
you help me?
Yes! Just ask for PHP 4 in the comments section of
the order form on signup, and we will ensure that your
account is on a PHP 4 server. Then you can upgrade
to PHP 5 when you are ready.
Did you know?
MediaCatch also supports PEAR with all PHP versions!
What is PEAR?
PEAR is a framework and distribution system
for reusable PHP components.
PEAR works with PHP 4 or PHP 5.
